চ্যানেল নিউজ, ঢাকা : আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি ও প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেছেন, আগামী ৭ জানুয়ারির নির্বাচনে কোনো সংঘাত চাই না। যাকে খুশি ভোট দেবেন। ভোটের শান্তিপূর্ণ পরিবেশ বজায় রাখবেন।
বুধবার (৩ জানুয়ারি) বিকেলে রাজধানীর তেজগাঁওয়ে ঢাকা জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের কার্যালয় থেকে পাঁচটি জেলা ও একটি উপজেলার নির্বাচনী জনসভায় ভার্চুয়ালি অংশ নিয়ে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।
শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, ১৯৯৬ সালের নির্বাচনে খালেদা জিয়া ভোট চুরি করে ক্ষমতায় থাকতে চেয়েছিল। কিন্তু জনগণ ভোট চুরি করলে মেনে নেয় না। জনগণের আন্দোলনের কারণে তিনি পদত্যাগ করতে বাধ্য হন। কিন্তু তারপরও তাদের শিক্ষা হয়নি। ফের ২০০১ সালের নির্বাচনে তারা ভোট চুরি করে ক্ষমতায় এসে জনগণের ভাগ্য নিয়ে খেলা শুরু করে। ওই নির্বাচনে আমি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে গ্যাস বিক্রি করতে রাজি না হওয়া ষড়যন্ত্রের শিকার হই। এর ফলে ক্ষমতা আসতে পারেনি।
তিনি বলেন, গ্যাস বিক্রি করার মুচলেকা দিয়ে বিএনপি-জামায়াত জোট ক্ষমতায় আসে। ক্ষমতায় এসেই তারা দুর্নীতি লুটপাত, জঙ্গিবাদ, বোমা হামলা, গ্রেনেড হামলা এবং আওয়ামী লীগের নেতা কর্মীদের অকাট্য নির্যাতন শুরু করে। তাদের দুর্নীতি এমন পর্যায়ে চলে যায়, প্রধানমন্ত্রী কার্যালয় ও আরেক দিকে তারেক যে হাওয়া ভবন খুলে দুর্নীতির আখড়া গড়ে তোলে।
আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি বলেন, বিএনপি জানত জনগণ তাদের ভোট দেবে না। এর ফলে তারা এক কোটি ২৩ লাখ ভুয়া ভোটার লিস্ট তৈরি করে। সেভাবে নির্বাচন করার প্রচেষ্টা নেয়। কিন্তু তারা ব্যর্থ হয়। ২০০৮ সালের নির্বাচনে বিএনপি ৩০০ আসনের মধ্যে ৩০টি সিট পেয়েছিল। আওয়ামী লীগ ২৩৩ সিটে জয়ী হয়। আর অন্য সিটগুলো আমাদের জোটের শরিকরা পেয়েছিল।
